Archive have a long history as a band and their musical journey has included multiple vocal collaborations and a changing sound that has kept their fans and friends enraptured and enthralled. From the mellifulous warmth of 'Londinium' (1996), which was later beautifully complimented by 'Take My Head' (1999), to the haunting depths and emotional range of 'You All Look The Same To Me' (2002). The band swiftly changed tack and created the passionate, unignorable album, 'Noise' (2004).

It seems only fitting then that Archive's journey now takes a turn towards the light. Nevertheless, these 'lights' abound with the same complexity, energy and richness that fans have come to expect from the South-London duo. Their new album 'Lights' was released in May 2006 on Warner Music France.

Enter the collective of vocalists starting with Pollard Berrier - a young American singer based in Austria and member of the very innovative Bauchklang - quickly became a prolific and harmonious part of the band, his sensual and crystalline voice perfectly matching the new mood of the music Archive was exploring. Accompanying Pollard on 'Lights' are the impressive vocal talents of Dave Penney (lead singer of Birdpen). Dave has been friends with Archive for several years and has been working with Archive since the smash sold-tour Noise Tour in 2004 and also co-wrote the tracks 'Programmed' and 'Black'. Last but by no means least, Maria Q completes the vocal line-up. Fans may recognise Maria as belle chanteuse on the album “You All Look The Same To Me” in 2001. Maria's uniquely haunting yet soulful vocal soars on the track 'I Will Fade' and compliments Dave Penny perfectly in the duet 'Veins'.

'Sane' was the second single released from 'Lights and you can hear the original mix and Dimitri Tikovoi mix on their website and MySpace page.

The description of 'cinematic' is often misused and often undeserved, however Archive really do deserve the tag. Their journey has covered many moods, colours, characters and twists of fate, but one thing has remained constant in their production, and that's the brilliance, bravery and magnificence of their music.

Having played their first UK gig in six years to a sell-out crowd at The Borderline in April, Archive return to their hometown for the second time this year, to perform a full headline set at Dingwalls on June 4th. Off the back of a highly successful European tour, culminating in a sell-out show at the 6000 capacity Zenith Arena in Paris, the band will turn their attentions to their home fans before returning to Europe to complete a run of summer festival dates.

Love that band, especially tracks like "fool" or "again" are genious. I think that "fool" is one of this track that changed my vision of music (like "imagine" by john lenon, led zeppelin, "money" by Pink Floyd, "ptolemy" by Aphex Twin). I love that band.
